Suspects arrested with unlicensed firearms in Khayelitsha and Nyanga

We are clamping down on serious and violent crimes in this province, and criminals with unlicensed firearms are in our sights. This is what three shopkeepers in Harare learnt the hard way last night when they were arrested for being in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The firearms were reported stolen in Bellville in 2014 and Table View in 2010 respectively. Members on patrol approached the Zwelitsha spaza shop of the suspects aged between 32 and 36 when suspicious activity triggered their attention. The premises were searched and a Vektor and Glock, both 9mm were discovered. They are set to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha on Monday.

In Browns Farm, Nyanga a 24 year old suspect was arrested during the early hours of this morning for being in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition when he was searched in Siyahlala informal settlement. He too is making a court appearance on Monday to face a charge of possessing an unlicensed firearm.
