Suspect held for alleged rape

Yesterday, 31 January 2017, the police in Khuma arrested a 25-year-old suspect for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman in Khuma, Stilfontein.

The suspect's arrest emanates from an incident in which the victim was called outside while at a local tavern. According to information received, the suspect forced the victim to accompany him to his shack where he allegedly raped her several times. The victim managed to escape and seek help from a passer-by.

The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was successfully traced and arrested. He is expected to appear in the Stilfontein Magistrate's Court tomorrow, 02 January 2018.

In another unrelated incident, a 27-year-old suspect will appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrates' Court tomorrow, 02 January 2017 for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old minor.

The suspect's appearance in court follows his arrest in Tshing location on Friday, 30 December 2017 by the police in Ventersdorp. According to the information received, the suspect went to the victim's room while she was sleeping, undressed her and raped her. It is alleged that the suspect tried to hide himself but the victim saw him and followed him to the sitting room. The victim reported the matter to her mother who then informed the police about the matter. The suspect was traced and arrested.
