Live ammunition recovered in East London

During an operation conducted by members of the East London K9 Unit together with Provincial PES at Mdantsane and East London Clusters, 762 rounds of live ammunition was stumbled upon hidden in a shallow grave in Kimberly Street in the CBD, whilst members were trying to pursue alleged drug dealers.

Amongst the rounds, a fire arm licence was recovered and during a preliminary investigation, the owner was traced, who alleged that several of his firearms and a substantial amount of ammunition were stolen during a house breaking that took place in November 2016. One of his firearms has since been recovered in Cambridge by the SAPS. No arrests have been made.

As the team continued with their operation two males 35 and 39 years of age were arrested in terms of Immigration Act.
