Police search for suspects in fatal freeway shooting

SAPS Mount Road detectives are searching for suspects who allegedly shot at a vehicle while driving on the M4 Freeway last night, 7 April 2022.

According to a preliminary report, about 19:34 the driver (27-year-old) was driving his Grey VW Polo hatch with two friends on the M4 freeway. Suddenly they heard a loud noise that sounded like a tyre burst but immediately realised that they had been shot at. The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into the railings on the side. The driver and one passenger got out and ran away. When they later returned to the vehicle, they found the back seated passenger dead inside the vehicle due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Suspects are unknown at this stage and motive for the shooting is under investigation. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. The deceased person was identified as Makilone Rapelang Emanuel 34 years of Makangiso Street in Motherwell.
