Police in Ekurhuleni apprehend duo in Tsakane and recover unlicensed firearms following a hijacking incident

EKURHULENI - On Tuesday, 08 March 2022, police in Ekurhuleni apprehended two suspects in Tsakane following a hijacking incident that took place earlier the day near Dalview, Brakpan.

A preliminary report suggests that the 59-year-old victim and her partner were accosted by the two suspects outside a local takeaway franchise who demanded their cash and personal belongings at gunpoint. The armed suspects allegedly then got into the vehicle of the victims, drove off and dropped the victims off near a veld after a few minutes.

Local security guards found the victims and took them to Brakpan police station to report the incident. Members of the Ekurhuleni Task Team detected the hijacked vehicle and a chase ensued. The suspects fired shots and the police retaliated. The SAPS members successfully intercepted the hijacked vehicle in Tsakane and recovered two unlicensed firearms. One suspect sustained injuries and is receiving medical attention under police guard.

Both suspects are expected to appear before court soon.
