NORTH WEST - Four suspects aged between 28 and 35 are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrates' Court on Monday, 14 February 2022, on charges of murder as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspects were arrested on Friday, 11 February 2022, along the N4 road by members of the Brits Trio Task Team. That was after the team members made a follow up on a tip-off, then cornered the suspects after a car chase. The suspects were held in connection with a murder of a 36-year-old man at Sgandaff Section, Majakaneng near Brits. It is alleged that four males driving in a white Toyota Etios arrived at the man's place and found him outside washing clothes. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the man who was found with gunshot wounds on the head and leg, was certified dead at the scene.
The police seized the suspects' white Toyota Etios, two firearm with serial numbers filed off, 24 ammunition and two cell phones.
The motive of the incident is yet to be determined and investigation into the matter continues.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded the members for their hard work that led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrators to ensure that they account for the alleged murder.
