A 13-year-old boy, Mekondjo Katundu, on Thursday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Windhoek.
A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Sunday said the boy hanged himself around 13h00 at the family home in Otjomuise.
The deceased’s next of kin have been notified and the body taken to the police mortuary for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile a 30-year-old male inmate, Ekandjo Kalo, allegedly committed suicide while in police custody at the Oshikuku holding cells in the Omusati Region on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 17h00 while the police officers on duty were distributing medicine to inmates.
Kalo reportedly grabbed all his medicine, ran into his cell and took all the medicine. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment and died soon after being admitted.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
In a separate incident, 24-year-old Shomya Nangala’s body was found floating in the swimming pool at Melrose guest farm in the Khomas Region around 19h00 on Saturday.
He was one of a number of people who gathered at the guest farm for an event.
One of the other guests had gone into the swimming pool when they felt something under the water and realised it was a body.
Nangala was declared dead after CPR failed. His next of kin have been notified and police investigations continue.
