WESTERN CAPE – In an effort to create and enhance active and meaningful participation of men in the fight against Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Domestic Violence and Sexual offences, Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele will on Monday 24 September 2022, lead a first of its kind Imbizo Ya Madoda _ Imbizo for Men_.
This unique community engagement is expected to be attended mainly by men who reside in Harare, Lingelethu-West, Site B and Makhaza policing precincts. These areas have reported some of the highest GBV cases.
Community policing structures, law enforcement agencies and the South African Police Service (SAPS) will engage men; who are often perpetrators of gender based violence, on the role they can and should play, in the prevention and combating of what has been described as the second pandemic in South Africa.
