MAHWELERENG – The South African Police Service in Mahwelereng have today conducted a crime awareness campaign as part of ’67 Minutes for Madiba’ Mandela Month activities with Government Communication Information System (GCIS), at Mosesetjane Village, in Mahwelereng Policing area, outside Mokopane.
The purpose of the campaign was to spend 67 minutes with victims of drug abuse, serve them nutritious and warm food and to encourage them to not give up in their fight against addiction and inform them of the available steps they can take to seek assistance from government organisations, the community, NGOs.
Police had the support of Community Volunteers Moruti John Motimele and Event Coordinator Mariam Maomakwe, alongside Community Leaders Mamohlomi Ledwaba and Motlatso Selomo, Ward 19 Councilor Tebogo Setsiba and Induna Ledwaba.
The victims of drug abuse were addressed by former addict and survivor, Chris and they were then handed pamphlets containing information about rehabilitation, counselling and substance abuse Helpline 0800121314.
The members reach an approximate of 25 male substance abuse victims, whom reside around Ga-Kgobudi, in Mosesetjane.
