Duo to appear in court for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs

CENTANE - Police conducted operation Vuthu Hawe in their policing precinct on Thursday, 24 March 2022.

Whilst police were busy with their crime prevention duties they received valuable information about a house in Centuli Village, Centane that had an unlicensed firearm. Police proceeded to the house and permission was granted to search the premises. Upon search they found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition and drugs (16 Tik straws). The 37-year-old man was arrested.

On the same night, a 43-year-old man was arrested in a house at Qoboqobo Village, Centane in possession of 36 Tik straws, three (03) boss tablets.

The duo will appear today at the Centane Magistrate's Court today.

The Acting Amathole District Commissioner, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu commended the members for their dedication in ensuring that illegal firearms are detached from the wrong hands. He also thanked the members in working hard in ensuring that community members are and feel safe.
