FREE STATE – The accused, Foxy Khoza (40) and Frans Bila (46) appeared before the Sasolburg Regional Court on Wednesday, 11 May 2022 where they pleaded guilty and they were sentenced for possession of stolen property.
On 30 March 2022, Zamdela police were busy patrolling on the R82 road when they stopped a bakkie carrying copper cables valued at more than R140 000-00. The docket was then handed over to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Sasolburg. Further investigation revealed that the copper cables belong to Transnet.
The court sentenced Khoza to five years imprisonment or R10 000-00 fine. Bila was sentenced to a fine of R1500-00 or five years imprisonment. The accused were declared unfit to possess a firearm.
