Duo behind bars for theft

NORTHERN CAPE – Two suspects, aged 26 and 27, are expected to appear in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court, on Thursday, 12 May 2022 on charges of theft from motor vehicle and theft general.

A manager at the Empilisweni Drop Inn Soup Kitchen, alleged that on the 06 May 2022, she left the Centre and everything was in order. However, when she returned on 09 May 2022, she noticed that the organisation's vehicle was stripped of its four wheels, and she further conducted an inspection on the premises, and discovered that three 19kg Gas cylinders were also stolen.

Prieska police immediately launched an investigation to trace the stolen goods. While they were busy with the investigation, they received a tip-off about the suspects who were seen in possession of the alleged stolen goods.

The police found the suspects in possession of reported stolen goods worth R3 000-00. The duo were put behind bars.

The Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Brigadier Nomana Adonis commended members of the community for sharing information which led to the arrest of the suspects. Accepting and buying stolen goods is criminal offence.
