Addis Ababa, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen held discussion with the European Union (EU) Managing Director for Africa Ambassador Rita Laranjinha today.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion focused on strengthening relations between the EU and Ethiopia.
Demeke expressed on the occasion Ethiopia’s readiness to normalize partnership and cooperation with the Union.
He further explained the importance of a sectoral dialogue between the two sides, and Ethiopia is preparing well for the next meeting on December 7, 2023.
The deputy premier and minister of foreign affairs also briefed the ambassador about the government’s efforts to ensure that peace reigns in Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia regions, further explaining the matters regarding the all-inclusive National Dialogue and the Transitional Justice mechanism.
European Union (EU) Managing Director for Africa, Ambassador Laranjinha on her part lauded the revamped relations between the EU and Ethiopia and appreciated the Ethiopian Government’s efforts to ensure peace and security in the country.
She said the EU will provide all the necessary assistance to that end.
