ALIWAL NORTH: On 2019-02-07 a very successful “Back to School” event was held at the SAPS hall. The role players that participated included the business sector, Department of Education, Social Development, Safety and Liaison, CPF, Youth Crime Prevention and Women’s Network.
The day was made possible due to the generous contribution made by Pick a Pay Aliwal North Family Supermarket towards underprivileged Learners in Aliwal North. The SAPS with the help of the student support staff from each school, identified 30 needy children from schools around town.
School uniforms, shoes and beautiful school bags were handed to the children, who were accompanied by their teachers and principals.
The generous donation will certainly make a positive impact towards the children’s schooling career.
The programme was enriched by speakers who came to encourage Learners. Two student teachers also gave a testimony to the benefit of the “Back to School” campaigns. Miss Morake from Social Development said that she too grew up underprivileged, but today she stands in front of everyone with BA Hons. in Social Sciences.
The Aliwal North SAPS cluster would also like to thank the following businesses for their support in making the day a big success. Pick@Pay Aliwal North Family Supermarket, Aliwal Weekblad, Fruit and Veg, Built It, Aliwal Toyota, Bokomo and Ho-Sheng.
We hope that these partnerships will grow from strength to strength in the future as we all promote safer schools and the preventing the involvement of young people in crime.
The acting Cluster Commander, Col Wright, reminded the students of how important education is for their future and not to get involved in criminal activities. He also thanked the sponsors for the donations given to ensure the day was a big success.
