A 29-year-old arrested for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition in Eastridge

Western Cape Tactical Response Team (TRT) members were busy with crime prevention duties, they received information about ammunition being stored illegally at a house in Beacon Street, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain. While searching the premises, members found ammunition under the bed in the wendy house. They retrieved one 9mm round, 20 .38 special rounds. Police arrested a 48-year-old male on charges of unlawful possession of ammunition.

On Tuesday 2018-12-04 at 01:30 members attached to Western Cape Tactical Response Team (TRT) were busy with crime prevention duties in Ravine Street, Eastridge. When they spotted a suspicious looking male and searched him. They found a silver CZ 7.65 firearm with magazine containing 10 7.65 rounds in his possession. Members arrested a 29-year-old male on charges of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make a court appearance in Mitchells Plain.

The Western Cape Provincial Commission Lt Gen KE Jula commended the members for their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and thanked the community members who reported the criminals.
