INVITE: National Commissioner to address women officers at SAPS International Women’s Day celebrations in Boksburg

Pretoria: The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Khehla Sitole will deliver the keynote address at the SAPS International Women’s Day celebrations in Boksburg, Gauteng.

International Women’s Day provides the organisation with a platform to address issues relating to the advancement and empowerment of women in policing and in the same breath also celebrate its milestone of ensuring women representation in the top echelons of the Service.

The following milestones and strides are being celebrated today:

* 38,9 % of women hold senior positions from 1% in 2000.

* Two of the three Deputy National Commissioner’s posts are held by women.

* The Deputy National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) is a female.

* Four of the nine Provincial Commissioner’s posts are held by women.
